Francois Raffinot -- "Dancer/ Danger"

Here comes the machine whose dancer is a part. At the beginning of Dancer/Danger, dance, music and image are going it alone. At the end, the performance is at full throttle when the machine parts are running together. In other words, Dancer/Danger is a machinery or a machination deriving its energy from the tension between the emptiness of the beginning and the fullness of the denouement. The Dancer/Danger project sprang from the meeting between choreographer François Raffinot and visual artist Isabelle Grosse. It relies on a monumental installation titled Upstream Isabelle Grosse designed on Paris City Hall square for the Nuit Blanche 2005 festival. In this project probing digital technology, the dancers are constantly connected to the virtual bodies of the video pictures.
